Sectors and Capabilities

Vision

Consistent flows of affordable energy are fundamental to our way of life. Yet, the current way in which the world’s resources are depleted is not sustainable, especially in the light of the fast growth of emerging nations. The coming decade we will need to see a transition to more renewable energy sources and – equally important – energy savings. We want to support investors, companies and governments that take this challenge seriously, both in their renewable energy strategies, and in their conventional energy strategies.

Oil & Gas

Over the years, we have established a track record in sustainable energy strategy, because of our work for many oil and gas companies as well as for investors and banks in this sector. We have an overall picture of global supply and demand regarding oil and gas (and LNG), and especially the challenges the industry is facing midstream, downstream and in the field of marketing.

Utilities

We have worked for several Utilities, all active on the north-western European markets. We have helped them with investment decisions on generation (coal, ccs, nuclear), with their expansion and M&A strategies, and the interaction with governments and politics regarding legislation, such as unbundling.

Generation technologies

We have a thorough understanding of the economics of power generation and energy conversion, both in renewables (solar, wind, biomass gasification, pyrolysis, torrefaction, waste to energy), and in conventional technologies (coal and ccs, nuclear, gas CCGT).

Fuels

We have been involved in several fuel projects. We have a good understanding of the sustainability and economic viability of a broad range of biofuels, such as ethanol, methanol, diesel, and kerosene, and their feed stocks, such as iatropha, algae, seed oils, wood and agricultural waste.

Carbon markets

Since 2005, we have invested heavily in building our carbon knowledge. We have thoroughly studied the ETS and follow all relevant policy and political moves on a daily basis. We have helped companies with their carbon strategies, both in trading and in CO2 reduction, and have been involved in numerous projects where CDM played a role.
