Joris Kaak

Joris has 30 years of experience in Operations and Supply Chain Management across Western-Europe. He works closely with leadership teams in defining and implementing operations strategies and restructuring supply chains; with a close eye on the social and sustainability elements of the operations agenda. Joris works as a consultant, advisor, or in a counseling role. Before joining Spring in 2015, he was Partner at Varova, an entrepreneurial private equity company. Joris started his consulting career at Booz Allen Hamilton and he held senior managerial positions at MAG45 –a Philips spin-out– at TNT Logistics, and as interim professional. He holds an MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University Delft and an MBA from the Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Benjamin Kemper

Benjamin has about 15 years of experience in Strategy and Operations. He focusses on shaping the strategic operations agenda, operational restructuring, and buy & build support, including separation/ integration assessment & execution. Through his deep expertise in operations and his hands-on experience in various major turnarounds, integrations and carve-outs, he drives strategic operational agendas of (portfolio) companies. Before joining Spring, Benjamin was with EY’s Operational Transaction Services team and with OC&C Strategy Consultants (today Parthenon-EY). Benjamin holds an MSc in Econometrics and a PhD in Industrial Statistics and Operations Management, both from the University of Amsterdam.

Florian Lokhorst

Florian, Partner at Spring Associates, joined the firm in 2007 and is an experienced strategic advisor. He leads Spring’s capital markets work, and has an appetite for high-tech, digital, and information intensive industries. Projects range from strategy and business development, to investment assessments and transactions. In those projects, Florian can draw upon his skill at dealing with extensive data sets, financial modelling, and valuation. Florian has two MSc degrees in mathematical economics (operations research and actuarial sciences) from the University of Amsterdam.

Matthijs Baan

Matthijs Baan, Founder of Spring Associates, has been a strategy consultant and an entrepreneur during his entire career. At Spring Associates, Matthijs works as strategy advisor in Energy, Clean tech, Financial Services, Life Sciences, and Publishing. Besides delivering strategy advice, Matthijs has been instrumental in establishing companies that build on the latest innovations in these areas. Matthijs holds a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Amsterdam and an MBA from INSEAD.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

In addition, Matthijs is a Managing Director at MJ Hudson Spring where he manages the Responsible Investment practice. Furthermore, Matthijs holds a number of advisory or board positions related to entrepreneurship or the community; e.g. he is supervisory board member of sustainable aviation fuels company SkyNRG and of energy efficiency company Sensorfact. He also sits on the review board of the European Institute of Technology’s Climate KIC, and on the board of the INSEAD Alumni Association in the Netherlands.

Devi Sutrisno

Devi is Finance Manager of Spring Associates since April 2019. He has over 6 years of experience within the financial services industry. Devi started his career at Intertrust, where he managed a team within the Real Estate department and continued his career at Alter Domus, where he managed a team within the Private Equity Department. Devi obtained a Bachelor Degree of Applied Sciences in Business Economics (BE) at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. In his spare time, Devi likes to travel and explore new destinations.
